Roof decking, often called sheathing, is the foundational layer of wood (plywood or OSB) attached to rafters or trusses that forms the base of a roof system. It supports roofing materials (shingles, metal), adds structural stability, and acts as a barrier against weather, acting as the “backbone” of the roof.
